Since its foundation, the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology has changed its name a few times. In 1960, the Faculty of Agricultural Technology established two sections, Agricultural Mechanization and Agricultural Technology, which became the pioneer of the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology. In 1978, the section of Agricultural Technology was renamed to the section of Agricultural Product Processing and renamed again in 1980 to the Major of Agricultural Product Processing. Furthermore, in 1995, the Major of Agricultural Product Processing turned to the Major of Agricultural Product Processing Technology. The Major of Agricultural Product Processing Technology was given its name in 2002 and turned into the Major of Food and Agricultural Product Technology in the same year.

Later in January 2016, due to a change from Major to Department, the Major of Food and Agricultural Product Technology turned to the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology until now.
