This website serves as a medium for disseminating information to both the academic community and the broader public who seek deeper insights into our study program.

Amidst the era of globalization and rapid advancements of Industry 4.0, the Bachelor Program of Food and Agricultural Product Technology at FTP UGM faces various challenges within an increasingly competitive and dynamic environment. To address these challenges, the program is dedicated to developing human resources through a range of supporting facilities to deliver high-quality education, equipping graduates with superior competencies to compete globally. These efforts are further enhanced through collaborations with leading international institutions, such as Prince of Songkla University (Thailand), Yamagata University (Japan), University of Borås (Sweden), and Khon Kaen University (Thailand).

In supporting its educational mission, the Bachelor Program of Food and Agricultural Product Technology is equipped with five laboratories that play essential roles in advancing the field. These include the Food Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Agricultural Products Laboratory; the Biotechnology Laboratory; the Food and Nutrition Laboratory; the Process Engineering Laboratory; and the Waste Management Laboratory.

Looking ahead, the Bachelor Program of Food and Agricultural Product Technology remains committed to strengthening its reputation as a center of academic excellence at the regional, national, and international levels. Furthermore, the program aims to serve as a pioneer of innovation and knowledge development through the implementation of the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi), aligned with the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (Freedom to Learn – Independent Campus) policy.

A Brief History of BFAPT

Since its establishment, the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology has undergone several name changes. In the 1960s, the Faculty of Agricultural Technology established two divisions: Agricultural Mechanization and Agricultural Product Technology, which became the forerunner of the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology.

In 1978, the Agricultural Product Technology division was renamed the Agricultural Product Processing Division, and in 1980 it was renamed again as the Department of Agricultural Product Processing. Subsequently, in 1995, the Department of Agricultural Product Processing changed its name to the Department of Agricultural Product Technology. The Department of Agricultural Product Technology was then renamed in 2002 as the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology.

Then, in January 2016, due to the change in status from department to faculty department, the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology officially became the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology as it is known today.
